At the moment we have two younger groups in Olari
Spiders – This group consists of children aged 1-4 years. The layout is set up specifically for children at this age and stage of development. There is a whole range of toys, games and puzzles for children to explore. Children are offered various opportunities for sensory exploration, mark making, small world play, role play and also time for rest and relaxation.
Tigers – This group consists of children aged 3-5 years. There is a lot of room for independent self expression through mark making, painting, construction and role play equipment. Children in this group also undertake short excursions to the nearby woods to explore nature. There are also opportunities to explore group work as children at this stage start developing their social and cognitive skills for purposeful and non-purposeful play.
In both the groups the environment is set up to promote and enable inquisitive learners so that not only do they express themselves verbally but also through the hundred languages as described in Loriz Malaguzzi’s poem. Like in all our settings, in these settings too our educators are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach. Given that the nursery is located near the woods and park, nature forms a very important part of children’s learning process. To find out more about the educators in these groups meet the Olari team.
