The sports building where our Ruoholahti nursery is located also houses a climbing centre. We organise climbing clubs for the older children from all our settings at least once every season. Parents can enroll their children to these for a small additional charge. These clubs are organised during nursery hours and children are escorted to and from the clubs by their educators. The nursery provides the necessary equipment for climbing.
The aim of undertaking climbing sessions is not only to promote the development of children’s gross motor skills. They are also a great way to instill self belief, patience and team spirit in the children. Educators regularly use these sessions to supplement children’s learning in different areas. To know more about how we use our climbing sessions for children’s holistic development, please read the blog climbing through January .
